Image
Maximizing social media as a powerful tool to challenge stigma and promote mental health awareness and acceptance may seem counterintuitive because the goal is to reduce stigma, not increase it.  Here are steps to reduce stigma to uphold mental health awareness and increase inclusion: 1. Raise awareness about mental health issues, their prevalence, and the impact they have on individuals and society. Encourage self-care practices, stress management, and emotional well-being in everyday life. 2. Encourage open and honest conversations about mental health. Sharing personal stories and experiences can help reduce stigma by humanizing those who struggle with mental health challenges. 3. Challenge and confront stereotypes and misconceptions about mental health. This includes dispelling myths and sharing accurate information about mental illnesses. 4. Promote empathy and understanding towards those with mental health issues. Support and participate in anti-stigma campaigns and events. These

A Repost | 10 Lessons from Gad Saad's book "The Parasitic Mind"

    1. Beware of idea pathogens. Idea pathogens are ideas that are harmful to our minds and society. They can be spread through social media, the news, and even our own friends and family.     2. Don't be afraid to question authority. Just because someone is in a position of power doesn't mean they're always right. Be willing to challenge the status quo and think for yourself.     3. Beware of groupthink. Groupthink is when people in a group make decisions that are not in their best interests because they want to fit in. Be willing to speak up and disagree with the group if you think they're wrong.     4. Beware of echo chambers. Echo chambers are online communities where people only hear information that confirms their existing beliefs. This can lead to people becoming more extreme in their views and less open to new ideas.     5. Beware of confirmation bias. Confirmation bias is the tendency to seek out information that confirms our existing beliefs and ignore inform

Post-truthing God's image (part 1)

Me looking at the mirror, asked myself, "When you look at me, do you see God or do you see God's mercy?" But what it really means to be an image of a living Christ? That's difficult. Clothing the naked, feeding the hungry, offering water for the thirst, hospitality for strangers, visiting prisoners, and healing the sick. With my mortality, my capacity is very, very limited and most of the time, that's difficult to perform. ( "For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. - Matthew 25:35-36 .)      Photo: Painting from an artist. Jesus performed various miracles, demonstrating His divine power and compassion. These included healing the sick (Matthew 4:23-24), restoring sight to the blind (Matthew 9:27-31), raising the dead (John 11:1-44), and calming st

Overthinking Memories

Image
Philosophers, cognitive scientists, and psychologists continue to explore and refine our understanding of memory's nature and mechanisms following diverse perspectives and influences. Externalist theories suggest that memory is not confined to an individual's mind but can also be distributed across external artifacts and the environment. They argue that external resources, such as written records, photos, or social interactions, play a crucial role in shaping and extending human memory. Constructivist views highlight that memory is not a passive reproduction of past events but an active reconstruction influenced by various factors, such as prior knowledge, expectations, and social context.  Probably not related but think again. Memory is more effective in the articulation and language of silence. Advocates of functionalism, on the other hand, argued that the role of memory in cognitive processing enables the retrieval and use of information to guide behavior and thought. Funct
