Jose Rizal: a historical memoir

As social media was abuzz with diverse discourses about a multi-awarded movie, "Gomburza" -- a story about the lives and struggles of three priests who were executed by Spaniard authorities in 1872 --  I was reminded about Jose Rizal, one of the Philippine's national heroes, whose novel El Filibusterismo (1891) was written and inspired by the lives of  these three historical religious persons unjustly killed because of irrelevant political mongerings.

Tomorrow, December 30, is likewise the commemoration of the lives and works of Rizal and the anniversary of his death too, when he was executed in 1896 in Bagumbayan, presently known as the Rizal Park in Manila.

A quick refresh to recoil the time of his life with his translated poem Mi Ultimo Adios can be downloaded here with my new illustration to keep the hero's memory abreast with the information technology's aesthetic advancement and to bring the youth's interest back into history using generative arts.
